Township Trustees' Statutory Duties

  • Township legislators with same authority as other board offices at board meetings, required to vote on all issues (where there is no conflict of interest)
  • Responsible for township’s fiduciary health (stewardship)

**Holiday Garbage Pickup Schedule**

GFL will not be picking up garbage on Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day.  Will resume weekly schedule on Tuesday.  All garbage will be picked up one day later than your normal scheduled day, through Saturday!  Thank you

**Au Train Township Spring Cleanup Day – Saturday, June 6th. 8:00 am – 11:30 am
Where: GFL Wood Island Landfill, Munising**

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO UNLOAD YOUR OWN DROPOFF – AS GFL WILL NOT HAVE STAFF ON HAND TO ASSIST!!

YOU MUST PROVIDE NAME AND PROPERTY ADDRESS. A LIMIT OF ONE TRUCK LOAD PER HOUSEHOLD

TIRES (without rims) will be accepted, a MAXIMUM of 4 per household will be strictly enforced.
MATTRESSES will be accepted, with a maximum of 1 per household.
NO Construction materials accepted – wood remnants, roofing etc.
NO Refrigerators, freezers or air conditioning units will be accepted (with or without freon).
Additional items that WILL NOT be accepted: Ashes, brush, yard waste, leaves, propane tanks, batteries, engines or motors containing gas or oil, fuel tanks, air conditioning units, and drums of any size. NO HAZARDOUS WASTE ACCEPTED (gas, oil, paints, thinners, insecticides, anti-freeze or anything containing PCP’s).

**Forest Lake Dam Update (Thursday, April 23rd).**

Supervisor Balmes attended a meeting today (regarding the Au Train River mouth) and the Army Corp of Engineers had a representative there. After discussing the Dam, that representative contacted Emergency Management for the State and Dam Safety. (The War Room). They indicated they had engineers on site today and are continuing to monitor the dam and flow. They feel the dam is currently safe. They will keep in touch with the Township with any updates as necessary.
 
**The Au Train Township Board will meet on the second Monday of each month for 2026, at 6:00 PM (unless noted otherwise), at the Au Train Township Hall/Community Building, N7569 Spruce St., Au Train MI 49806.

Additional Special Meetings may be called, as needed, and will be posted accordingly.

**The Property Tax Millage Rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing.”

The Proposed Budget will be available for review on the Au Train Township website, www.autraintownship.gov at least 8 days prior to the meeting date.
